Today I went to Singles Ward for the very first time. It was not as bad as I had been made to believe. The majority of the guys didn't wear pocket protectors, the girls didn't have venom hanging from fangs looking to kill whatever girl gets in the way of their goal... a ring. It truly didn't even seem like anyone was begging for a ring. Sunday School was not taught by a guy who listed all the qualities he had that would make a good husband and all the qualities he was looking for in a wife. Relief Society was not centered on how to become a better cook, and there were few if any I hate my roommate stories. It was nice to know that all the things I heard were FALSE!
Honestly it was kinda nice. It was reverent and so easy to focus because there weren't any crying babies and it was rare that someone got up to leave. Also, since everyone was roughly the same age the talks were relatable and interesting.
There were even some noteworthy ideas and comments that I want to remember.
~God is never disappointed in us
~There is a difference between patience and idleness
~The alagory of the marshmellow and the fallen tree
~Be the type of friend that Jonathan was to Saul... in other words, be the type of friend that when people desire unrighteous things you gently direct them back to the path of righteousness.
